I have always enjoyed writing whether it was short bible studies, journaling, jotting down the gems He gives me or writing my prayers out. “Start writing!” came to me for several months. As I was already writing for myself I thought He just wanted me to write more of what I was already doing.  It came to me one day, “Write a blog”. I didn’t really know what a blog was, it sounded like some trendy-worldly way to have myself heard and known. His words kept coming to me as I prayed and learned about blogs. It was like it all “happened overnight”. He guided and directed me to the fine details and together we made a site. I didn’t even know how to turn a computer on a few years ago let alone invent a blog site. “Alone” would be a key word through all this as I was not alone. Philippians 4:4 says “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

“Shadow of the Vine Shadow of the Fig Tree” came to me while seeking the Lord about   what to call it. ~Zechariah 3:10~ is what He gave me..”Everyone will invite his neighbor; Under his vine and under his fig tree”~. It made me think of in the heat of the day how nice it is to drink a cool cup of water under the shade of the tree with a friend. Or once when I was out for a walk it started raining so hard I had to seek shelter under a tree. He makes us to lay down in green pastures to take a rest and enjoy the day He gives us. He is our shelter, our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

~Micah 4:4 ~was also highlighted to me. ~”But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, And no one shall make him afraid; For the mouth of the Lord of Hosts has spoken.”~ Before that verse in~ Micah 4:1-3~ and also in ~Isaiah 2:1-4~  talk about a “peace’.  I am not a theologian so I don’t have the words for the full meaning of those verses but I do know He pointed out that it was about PEACE.

~1 Kings 4:25 ~And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, each man under his vine and his fig, from Dan as far as Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.~ Here we see agriculture communities dwelling in peace, safety and simple prosperity in a rural atmosphere. No longer having to dwell in fortified cities for fear of all their enemies. They were able to live on their own land and eat the fruits of their own labors. A time of restful enjoyment under there own vines. Whether we live in a city or country we can come to Him and find rest for our weary souls. Coming under His shadow of refuge.

~Psalm 36:7~ How precious is Your loving kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put heir trust under the shadow of Your wings.

~Psalm 57:1~ Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make refuge, until these calamities have passed by.

~Psalm 63:7~ Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.

~Psalm 91:1~ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

~Psalm 121:5~ The Lord is your keeper, the Lord is your shade at your right hand.                                                                                                                                                                                  These are just a few verses He has given to us to remind us that He is our refuge, shelter and our  hiding place. Hence this blog was created for us who need rest  for our weary souls in this land and for those of us who need a cool drink of the Living Water to refuel our spirits.
